Evensong at St Paul's Church
St Paul's Church has many beautiful features, including this stained glass, as befits the church where John Ruskin, the Victorian writer on social issues and aesthetics, worshipped.
Festival Evensong will feature:
- a new setting of Psalm 88 I will sing forever of your love, O Lord, for choir and harp, by South London choral composer, Bernard Hughes.The harpist will be local musician Alicija Cetnar.
- local hymn-writer Christopher Idle's It points to heaven from the hill, specifically written about and for St Paul's Church.
- the Nunc Dimittis by Amy Beach, and a matching Magnificat written by award-winning British choral composer Olivia Sparkhall.
- Thomas Tallis' much-loved anthem If ye love me.
